WELCOME TO THE VAN'S WEBSITE!

Documenting the transition of and likely struggle involved with turning this early 00s conversion van into a true home on wheels.

For the better part of a decade, but really over the last 5 years or so, I have had the dream to buy a van and turn it into a true home on wheels. It started with a fascination for the 70s and 80s vannin' culture, but quickly turned into a notion of jumping as far off the radar as possible. I know I am not new in this dream and that it is kind of a trend, at this point, in its own right. The issue with following a lot of people I have who have turned various vehicles into homes on wheels is that they all come from some sort of background that gives them a leg up and they also typically have access to tools and materials to make the conversion easier than it would be for a typical person.

I live a very typical American life where I am quite literally living barely above paycheck to paycheck, so I'm hoping my experience working on this will potentially be a little more helpful and relevant to a typical person with a similar dream.

Both of my kids are grown to adulthood. One has moved out, the other is still in the other room - not sure for how long. I raised them on my own. I am proud of what I accomplished with them, what we accomplished together, and what they are now accomplishing on their own. But. Now. Now it's time to do something I want. Just for me.

I BOUGHT THE VAN!
